It was his love of adventure that brought Dean Murayama to Alaska. Born and raised in Kailua, Oahu, he left his mobile mechanic business in 1985 to venture to Shelter Island, Alaska. Through the early years he worked as a mechanic, boat captain, and lodge manager. In 1988 he decided to make Alaska his home, and in 1994 he purchased Anchor Point Lodge and started a family.
Dean and Nora have raised their two children, Megan and Simon, at the lodge and enjoyed an Alaskan lifestyle for over 20 years. The kids enjoy working the family business during the busy summer fishing season alongside their folks. It is all about sharing what they love about Alaska with each and every guest.
The Murayama family is onboard all season to welcome you to Anchor Point Lodge, and to assure your fishing adventure is a “Trip of a Lifetime.”
